Overview
The Manager of RN Labor and Delivery plays a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of care for women during childbirth, making this position integral to patient safety and satisfaction.
This leadership role encompasses overseeing the daily operations of the Labor and Delivery unit, ensuring that both staff and patients are supported through the childbirth experience.
The manager is responsible for the coordination of clinical programs, adherence to best practices, and effective management of resources, which include staffing, budgeting, and departmental compliance with regulatory standards.
In this fast-paced healthcare environment, the Manager RN Labor and Delivery must work collaboratively with medical staff, nurse practitioners, and other departments to facilitate high-quality care.
This position requires a dedicated individual capable of mentoring staff, enhancing the patient experience, and implementing continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the Labor and Delivery unit.
- Recruit, hire, and train nursing staff.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards.
- Develop and implement nursing protocols and policies.
- Manage staff performance through evaluations and feedback.
- Facilitate staff meetings to promote communication and collaboration.
- Monitor budget and resource allocation for the unit.
- Coordinate with obstetricians and anesthesiologists for patient care.
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure patient and family-centered care is practiced consistently.
- Address patient concerns and crises effectively and compassionately.
- Analyze clinical outcomes and data to drive improvements.
- Foster a positive work environment for employees.
- Implement training and development programs for nursing staff.
- Maintain inventory and equipment readiness.
Required Qualifications
What qualifications you will need:
- 3-5 years of Recent (Within the last year) Acute Care L&D Leadership experience required!
- Current RN license in Texas
- BCLS certified, Medication Learning Module
- NRP certification within six (6) months of hire
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification within six (6) months of hire
- ACLS, TX Room, PACU, ICU, HS, L & D, OR
- Bachelor’s Degree
