Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance, Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards, Cleanroom: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair etc... allowed, Cold Room/Freezers -22degreesF/-6degrees C, Fluctuating Temps hot/cold, Loud Noises (Equipment/Machinery), No contact lens allowed; prescriptive glasses will be provided, Office, Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.), Standing for full shift, Strong Odors (chemical, lubricants, biological products etc.), Various outside weather conditions, Warehouse, Will work with hazardous/toxic materials

Discover Impactful Work:

As a Manager, Operations, you will lead and direct daily workflows for the manufacture of dehydrated culture media products at our Detroit plant. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards, contributing to our mission to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.

A day in the Life:

  • Manage production activities on all shifts to ensure timely delivery to customers.
  • Promote employee safety through education, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Foster effective communication across all production shifts.
  • Coordinate planning and production activity control.
  • Maintain departmental records, including equipment cleaning and maintenance documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational safety rules, Hazmat regulations, and SOPs.
  • Drive accurate use of the site ERP system for production transactions, inventory controls, and financial transactions.
  • Coordinate company and union contract policies and conduct performance corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance to ensure product compliance.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing operating procedures.
  • Standardize production processes.
  • Lead technical initiatives to support safety, quality, and efficiency improvement goals.
  • Support development of validation and process change protocols.
  • Investigate manufacturing issues and implement resolutions.
  • Lead training efforts and develop direct reports through mentoring.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a natural/biological science, technical, engineering, or business.

Experience

  • Five years of proven leadership in a GMP/ISO production environment, preferably in the Pharmaceutical or Food industry.
  • Experience with ERP systems.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Minitab.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving abilities.
  • Prioritization and task completion skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to build teams and work collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational, coordination, and delegation skills.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with physical demands including standing, lifting, and operating equipment.
