The Manager of Content Strategy is responsible for leading and managing our team of talented writers and content editors who craft interesting and relevant content on military benefits, history, culture, and all the resource information, internally referred to as evergreen content, on our site. We are looking for someone who thinks creatively but strategically, is eager to work collaboratively with our Managing Editor of News, and who has the drive to ensure our site continues to be the go-to resource for our military and veteran community.

Job Requirements:

  • Organizing and overseeing all evergreen daily content priorities and production including directly approving and editing stories as well as coordinating and deconflicting coverage.
  • Work with SEO strategist to prioritize and assign SEO projects or updates
  • Track and understand site and coverage needs
  • Manage and support newsletter content selection and shape content strategies
  • Make data-driven decisions and use tools and resources to constantly monitor site, content performance, identify sections and content that needs updating and determine at what intervals to ensure SEO performance
  • Align content efforts to support the Military.com brand
  • Manage a team of four content writers and editors and several freelance contributors
  • Work closely and collaboratively with Military.com's Managing Editor of News
  • Hold weekly team meetings and engage with other Military.com teams like product, analytics, and newsletters
  • Work collaboratively with social media manger to distribute evergreen content effectively


Experience & Education

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in website/content publishing with a defense/military focus
  • Experience and knowledge of copy-editing
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Understanding of SEO principles and best practices
  • Experience with a variety of content management systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of AP style
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred, but not required
  • Deadline-oriented and comfortable multi-tasking
