    Purpose

    The Manager of Accounting position is responsible for oversight and handling of the high volume of the Blanton’s accounting operations. Specifically, the Manager of Accounting is responsible for managing timely payment and procurement processing and tracking of cash deposits, online deposits, invoices, procard vouchers and reconciliation, purchase orders, wire transfers, interdepartmental transactions, reimbursements, and less complex contracts and service agreements. Additionally, this role will manage accounting policies, procedures, tracking, and controls that comply with state and federal statutes, rules, and regulations, accounting and auditing standards, as well as adhering to all university finance structures and policies. This position reports to Chief Financial Officer.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage and perform high volume payment and procurement processing and tracking in a timely and efficient manner for museum-wide transactions adhering to UT mandated deadlines and policies; including, but not limited to, invoices, credit card vouchers, purchase orders, reimbursements, online deposits, daily deposits, wire transfers, travel payments, and inter-departmental transfers
    • Coordinate monthly statements for museum departmental reconciliation; ensure timely and accurate financial processing and reporting
    • Maintain accurate and complete internal financial tracking logs and records for areas of oversight, includes bookkeeping
    • Assist with business-related contracts and service agreements; communicate with UT Business Contracts and UT Legal as required
    • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial transactions; ensure compliance and consistency with University, Provost’s Office, and museum policies, procedures, and systems
    • Assess, recommend, and/or implement procedural process improvements
    • Assist with museum’s annual budgeting process and coordination of required budget documents to the Provost’s Office
    • Assist with tracking accounts and developing financial reports to share with senior leadership
    • Liaise with university and outside offices, as needed, to fulfill job duties, including Provost’s Office, Office of Accounting, UT Business Contracts, etc.
    • Other related job duties as assigned


    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree and six years of responsible level experience in finance, accounting and/or budgeting; or Master’s degree and four years of above experience
    • Proven ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage concurrent projects, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities and exceptional organizational skills.
    • Robust analytical skills with ability to translate complex data into simple, understandable information.
    • Ability to meet overlapping deadlines in a fast-paced office environment.
    • Excellent interpersonal, oral communication, and writing skills.
    • Proven ability to work both independently and within a team, fostering effective relationships in a collegial environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information using tact and discretion.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, database, and accounting applications.


    Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance
    • Seven years of responsible level experience in finance, accounting and/or budgeting;
    • Experience with DEFINE, FRMS, Workday business processes, Docusign, Smartsheet, and Quickbooks
    • Familiarity and knowledge of UT policies and procedures and an understanding of University organization and resources


    Salary Range

    $72,000 + depending on qualifications

    Employment Eligibility:

    Retirement Plan Eligibility:

    The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
