About The Role

The AFL-owned Marvel Stadium is the busiest multi-purpose stadium in the world, welcoming over 2.5 million patrons to the venue every year with the most diverse range of events hosted. Beyond AFL matches each season the Stadium hosts other sporting codes as well as many memorable concerts for some of the world’s biggest stars, including Coldplay, Paul McCartney, P!NK, and Oasis. In addition to major events Marvel Stadium has become an entertainment destination 365-days a year with a range of experiences, events and F&B options bringing patrons to the precinct all year round.

With the growth and diversification of our experiences and offerings we are seeking a highly motivated individual with extensive leadership and technical knowledge & experience to lead the Stadium’s Logistics and Technical teams. The role will oversee key verticals relating to logistics, venue configuration & setup, and technical interface for the various stadium event modes. An accomplished leader, the successful candidate will have a track record of leading high-performing teams in fast-paced technical environments with a demonstrated commitment to quality, efficiency and safety.

Given the nature of the business and the role on event days weekend and out-of-hours work is a component of the role.

a Day In The Life Of

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Manage the stadium's in-house logistics and technical team, including an extensive casual workforce
  • Be proactive in addressing performance management and resourcing requirements, in conjunction with the People team

Technical Expertise

  • Act as the primary technical interface between the stadium, venue hirers, and service providers
  • Ensure comprehensive knowledge of statutory building compliance requirements, including Essential Services and Safety Measures (ESASM) certification, Building Permits, Temporary Occupancy Permits, and Place of Public Entertainment (POPE) permits
  • Lead and develop maintenance standards and event-specific CAD drawings, ensuring all required planning and certification documentation is in place

Event Execution & Support

  • Maintain a high level of motivation and flexibility in providing support for a wide array of major sporting and entertainment events
  • Oversee the implementation and support of WHS and OHS requirements across the team
  • Oversee the management of casual and contract resourcing at matches and special events

Stakeholder, Contractor & Partner Relations

  • Nurture, develop, and manage relationships with key partners, hirers, building surveyors, engineers, and service providers
  • Actively engage and maintain relationships with key state & local government departments, along with key regulatory agencies (EPA, WorkSafe et al)

Administrative Skills

  • Strong computer literacy including general office administration, report writing, and procedural documentation.

Mandatory

  • Demonstrated leadership & management experience with high-performing teams, with particular emphasis on fast-paced building, infrastructure or other related environments
  • Senior Building Services knowledge across multiple disciplines, including Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Distribution (including High Voltage), Mechanical Services (HVAC), Fire, and Hydraulic Systems
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to safety & active risk management activities
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Strong communication skills across written, verbal and visual presentation

Desired

  • Building, Services, Trade or Engineering background with 10 years' experience in the Building Service environment
  • An interest in stadia, sporting and major events
