Manager I, Business Contracts
POSITION PROFILE
Independently performs a variety of legal work relating to various corporate and transactional matters involving Ricoh and its affiliates. Serves as a key advisor to various internal clients and is responsible for identifying legal issues and helping to resolve them.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
* Reporting to a Senior Counsel or above, the Contract Manager serves on a team of legal professionals dedicated to solving the legal challenges of several dedicated lines of business.
* Communicates and works directly with internal clients from sales, finance, procurement, IT, marketing, and operations.
* Works independently, with appropriate supervision from senior colleagues.
* Exercises judgment to identify legal risks and to formulate appropriate action.
* Drafts, reviews, and negotiates contracts for myriad complex transactions, including customer agreements and supply agreements.
* Provides guidance about contract requirements.
* Negotiates and communicates directly with external counter-parties, including customer contract negotiators.
* Serves as the primary point of contact between the team and its internal clients, ensuring the team addresses the various needs of its clients efficiently and in the proper order of priority.
* Contributes to the development and maintenance of processes, procedures, and methods to monitor and manage contract compliance.
* Performs legal research and analysis, including written analysis.
* Occasionally performs in a cross-functional role for various business initiatives, including serving alongside personnel in other corporate functions.
* Manages outside counsel and other experts.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Certifications):
* Excellent academic credentials.
* J.D. degree with 2 or more years of experience practicing law at a law firm and/or corporate legal department, OR a minimum of 5 years of experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts at a law firm and/or corporate legal department.
* J.D. preferred but not required.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, including Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Demands:
* Typically, an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
* Work assignments are diversified. Interpret, comprehend, and apply complex material, data, and instruction; prepare, provide, and convey diversified information.
* Minimal physical effort required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects typically weighing less than 10 lbs. (e.g., papers, books, files, and small parts, etc.). Moderate dexterity; regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, eye/hand coordination).
