The Role Manager Continuous Improvement, Traning & Quality

In this role you will support the evolution of EssilorLuxottica’s lean culture to raise the region’s Lean capacity, as well being responsible for establishing short and long-term learning strategies to increase the quality of performance at all levels of logistics employees.

The CITQ-Manager will inspire the team to improve performance in safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and efficiency, meeting financial goals.

Working collaboratively across functions, this role will define training strategies that balance theory and practice to create and design learning modules that meet associates and management development goals. This position will mold the direction of future learning programs and be the driver to create a culture of continuous learning.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and manage a Continuous Improvement, Learning and Development, and Quality team across all EMEA fulfillment centers.
  • Determine strategy to ensure Product, Process and Systems Knowledge is created, designed and implemented across all sites.
  • Design, create, and develop informal and formal learning solutions (including e-learnings, interactive PDFs, videos, SOPs etc.) to meet organizational needs by analyzing and selecting the most appropriate strategy, methodologies, and technologies to maximize the learning experience and impact.
  • Ensure teams are trained, cross trained, and test that knowledge on a regular basis to ensure proficiency.
  • Audit and obtain feedback and data from facility partners, improving learning and development content and constantly moving learning content to the next level.
  • Identify and maintain processes and tools to drive standardization and efficiency.
  • Train/coach/mentor personnel in Lean and CI tools such as 5S, Lean standard work, Kanban, value stream mapping, visual management, flow production, SMED, variation reduction/DMAIC.
  • Select, mentor, and certify Kaizen leaders to become Lean tools experts.
  • Participate in development of CI project plans with Operations executives.
  • Lead the definition and delivery of large business improvement projects through the application of Lean and project management tools.
  • Collaborate closely with Cost Accounting to certify a financial alignment of the projects and a clear definition of expectation in terms of results.
  • Actively identify potential risks & issues relating to the delivery of projects and manage a resolution process in a timely manner, only escalating major issues.
  • Influence and continue to move forward the culture of Lean/continuous improvement to all levels from senior management to shop floor employees.
  • Drive the execution of the Kaizen events and Lean Projects.
  • Create and facilitate Daily Management processes in designated areas (GEMBA).
  • Expands and adapts processes to all EL facilities in order to collect customer feedback from all channels and implement quality processes to address these issues.
  • Executes problem solving/root cause analysis tools (Six Sigma methodology) to identify and develop improvement programs.
  • Manages development of the Quality organization within the region to enable delivery of quality goals.
  • Leads use of automated data analysis to expedite reaction to quality issues and manipulates data as necessary to drive improvement.
  • Executes processes within the site around product, packaging, & equipment qualification and validation systems.
  • Acts as the liason between Innovation Engineering activity, maintenance improvements, and the facility leadership teams to drive awareness and issue resolution that helps sustain/improve quality results.
  • Documents processes and executes audits to ensure site improves performance through adherance to controlled documentation procedures.
  • Collaborates with network resources in development of standardization activities and influences site’s leadership around executional needs.
  • Collaborates with site leadership to ensure Quality needs are fully understood and prioritized.
  • Ensures quality-related decisions meet consumer and customer needs.
  • Leads execution of systems that ensure Quality KPIs/scorecard metrics are met.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Organizational Development, or Talent Management.
  • 5+ years of instructional design experience or project management experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in a Continuous Improvement role supporting Operations manufacturing or Logistics environment.
  • Mastering of Lean Principles, Six Sigma tools, Strategic Planning, and statistical process control techniques.
  • Track-record as a successful “Change Agent” in front line roles such as supply chain manager, manufacturing manager, quality manger, operation manager, or engineering manager.
  • Experience in a business environment with the practical application of leadership development, organization development, and adult learning theories and models.
  • Proficient computer skills in Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with track-record of delivering results that directly impacted the bottom-line.
  • Strong planning, organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time.
  • Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
  • Strong strategic mindset to see ahead to future possibilities and translating them into breakthrough strategies.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Working knowledge of managing and influencing organizational change.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills to apply knowledge of business to advance the organization’s goals.
  • Experience in creating learning strategies using alternative modes and technology.
  • Familiar with Policy Deployment.
  • Knowledge of training industry best practices.
  • Proficient knowledge of Learning Management Systems.
  • Ability to design evaluation strategies to measure learning program effectiveness.
  • Optical knowledge.
