Summary

What You Will Do

This position contributes to the development, maintenance and ongoing support of the Credit Union’s Compliance Management System for identifying, assessing, controlling, measuring, monitoring, and reporting compliance risks across the organization. With minimal supervision, this role participates in the compliance monitoring and testing program including planning, testing, identifying, and evaluating risks and controls, developing recommendations and conclusions and communicating results with management. Contribute to compliance risk assessments to identify high-risk regulatory concerns. Formulate an integrated and independent view of the business area risks and risk management practices. Analyze data and provide trend analysis to identify any areas of concerns or opportunities for process or service improvements. Assist with a root-cause analysis of complex fact patterns associated with potential issues identified by the business or through exams and reviews. Provide regulatory compliance expertise, guidance and recommendations to stakeholders across organization to address compliance risks associated with business processes and support strategic initiatives. Partners with business units to remediate compliance findings identified in internal and external examinations and audits. Completes any other job related duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Purpose, and abide by our Organization’s Values.

What We Require

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or related field, or comparable experience as required. Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in consumer regulatory compliance, business controls or internal audit in a financial institution or comparable experience. Intermediate knowledge of the following key consumer compliance regulations and their respective applicability to deposits, payments, and credit reporting: Electronic Fund Transfers Act, Truth in Savings Act, Availability of Funds and Collection of Checks, Collection of Checks and Funds Transfers Through Fedwire, NACHA Operating Rules, and Fair Credit Reporting Act. Extensive experience of developing and executing regulatory test plans and scripts is required. Intermediate knowledge of risk management principles, practices and methodologies; and understanding of industry trends and best practices with respect to compliance risk management. Strong interpersonal and communication skills including oral, written, and presentational skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are key. Strong analytical and deductive reasoning skills. Demonstrated experience analyzing and synthesizing data to drive insights and identify regulatory, operational, or emerging risks.

Ideal Candidate Will Have

Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills to support the ability to synthesize process and compliance risk information for the purpose of developing a well-defined and balanced position. Ability to convey position clearly, concisely, logically and in an organized manner. Knowledge of financial institution operations inclusive of bank technology and operating systems. Able to effectively present complex subject matter to all levels of stakeholders. Capability to collaborate with stakeholders and build relationships across organization to gain insight into compliance risks associated with line of business activities, objectives, practices and processes. High level of professionalism and confidentiality of sensitive information. Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Three years leadership experience coaching, mentoring and/or managing engaged professional team members or peers.
