Job Description:

About the Role:

We are seeking a Cloud Operations Manager to lead and oversee the managed operations team responsible for delivering cloud infrastructure services to multiple customers. This is a technical leadership role requiring deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, IT service management (ITSM), automation, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing cloud environments across AWS, Azure, and GCP while ensuring high availability, performance, security, and compliance for multiple customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead a team of cloud engineers and operations professionals, driving technical excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement an operational model for managing multi-customer cloud environments in line with industry best practices.
  • Foster collaboration between engineering, security, and operations teams to ensure efficient, scalable, and secure cloud services.
  • Act as an escalation point for high-priority incidents, ensuring timely resolution and customer communication.

Operations Management

  • Own and manage the delivery of cloud managed services across multiple customer environments, ensuring adherence to SLAs, KPIs, and compliance standards.
  • Design and implement monitoring, alerting, and incident management processes for large-scale, multi-cloud environments.
  • Optimize cloud operational costs by implementing governance, automation, and resource optimization best practices.
  • Oversee capacity planning, patch management, and proactive maintenance schedules for customer environments.

Engineering & Innovation

  • Drive automation in operational workflows using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and AIOps tools.
  • Collaborate with Cloud Transformation teams to implement scalable and future-ready cloud architectures.
  • Provide thought leadership in cloud technologies, ensuring the team stays ahead of emerging trends and best practices.
  • Standardize and document operational processes, ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

Customer Success & Stakeholder Management

  • Engage with customers to understand business requirements, pain points, and cloud strategy objectives.
  • Prepare and present regular operational and performance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted advisor for customers, recommending tailored technical and operational improvements.

Key Qualifications

Technical Expertise (Must Have)

  • Multi-Cloud Expertise: Strong experience managing AWS, Azure, and GCP cloud services at an enterprise scale.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Expertise in core cloud services, networking, storage, security, and high-availability architectures.
  • Monitoring & Incident Management: Hands-on experience with native and third-party tools (Service Now, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, GCP Operations Suite, New Relic, Datadog, Splunk) for system reliability.
  • Cost Management & Optimization: Skilled in using cloud cost optimization tools (AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, GCP Pricing Calculator) to manage and optimize multi-customer cloud spend.
  • Security & Compliance: Knowledge of cloud security frameworks and compliance standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA, and CIS benchmarks.

Technical Expertise (Nice to Have)

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficient in Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates, or CDK for automation and infrastructure consistency.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Experience with pipelines using AWS Code Pipeline, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
  • Containers & Serverless: Knowledge of Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, GKE), Docker, and serverless frameworks (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
  • Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Experience designing resilient and fault-tolerant cloud architectures with multi-region DR strategies.

Professional Experience

  • Cloud Operations Management: 12+ years of hands-on experience managing cloud infrastructure operations for enterprise or mid-sized organizations.
  • Technical Leadership: At least 3-5 years in a leadership role managing cross-functional teams, driving operational strategy, and implementing cloud best practices.
  • Managed Services Delivery: Experience providing cloud managed services to multiple customers, including SLA management, incident resolution, and service optimization.
  • Incident & Problem Management: Expertise in managing high-priority incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing permanent solutions.
  • Cloud Migration & Modernization: Experience leading cloud migration and transformation projects, including re-hosting, re-platforming, and re-architecting applications.
  • Automation & AIOps: Hands-on experience implementing automation in cloud operations, leveraging AI-driven monitoring and remediation.
  • FinOps & Cost Optimization: Proven ability to drive cost efficiency while maintaining performance and scalability.

Leadership Experience

  • Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional technical teams in a fast-paced, multi-customer environment.
  • Experience in managed operations, ITSM, incident response, and customer engagement.
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to perform under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Architect, ITIL, or PMP.
  • Familiarity with hybrid and multi-cloud integration strategies.
  • Knowledge of AIOps tools and best practices.
