Job Summary: FAR Group requires staff that are board certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), and American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) and specialized in the following modalities: Mammography (M). Services include the full range of radiology imaging care for inpatient and outpatient VA patients to include Call shift coverage for afterhours emergent procedures.

Duties:
Preparing patients for mammograms: The technologist will explain the procedure to patients, ensure that they are comfortable and safe during the mammogram, and answer any questions they may have.
Operating mammography equipment: The technologist will be responsible for operating the mammography machine to obtain high-quality images of the patient's breasts. This may involve positioning the patient in the correct location for the best image quality, adjusting the equipment settings, and using compression to obtain the best image.
Applying compression: During the mammogram, the technologist will apply compression to the patient's breasts to help spread out the breast tissue and improve the quality of the mammogram images.
Monitoring patient safety: The technologist will monitor patients during the mammogram to ensure that they are safe and comfortable. They will also be responsible for responding to any issues that arise during the mammogram, such as patient discomfort or equipment malfunctions.
Record-keeping: The technologist will be responsible for documenting patient information, mammogram results, and other important details related to the mammogram procedure.
Interacting with healthcare professionals: The technologist will work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as radiologists and physicians, to ensure that the mammogram is conducted properly and that the results are accurately interpreted.
Adhering to safety and quality standards: The technologist will be responsible for adhering to strict safety and quality standards, including following radiation safety protocols and ensuring that patient data is handled in a confidential and secure manner.
Performing specialized mammography procedures: Some Mammography technologists may have specialized training in certain types of mammography procedures, such as digital breast tomosynthesis or breast ultrasound. In these cases, they may have additional duties specific to those procedures, such as positioning the patient in a particular way to obtain the best image or assisting with the ultrasound scan.
QUALIFICATIONS:
License: Radiology Technologist (s) shall have Certificate of Completion of Technologist training program accredited by an institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), and the JCERT. Technologist (s) must meet the minimum of two (2) years of relevant clinical experience and a minimum of one (1) year of general radiology experience in their respective sub-specialties in a level 1 hospital setting, proven clinical work experience within the past 12 months. DRTs must have experience with Philips & Ziehm C-arms radiology equipment within the past 24 months and specific equipment related to the following modalities:
Mammography: Hologic and MagView
Board Certification/Eligibility: Radiology Technologist (s) performing under this contract shall meet or exceed recognized national standards established by The Joint Commission (TJC) and have completed training from an accredited institution, and shall have received a certificate of completion of training in Radiologic Technology and have a current certification or registry in their respective sub-specialties by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).
Technical Proficiency: Radiology Technologist (s) shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government’s requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently. Radiology Technologist (s) shall provide documents to verify current and ongoing competency, skills, certification, and/or licensure related to the provision of care, treatment, and/or services performed. Radiology Technologist (s) shall provide verifiable evidence of all educational and training experience, including any gaps in educational history. Radiology Technologist (s) shall be responsible for abiding by the VA Facility's Medical Staff By-Laws, rules, and regulations (referenced herein) that govern medical staff behavior.
Credentialing and Privileging: Credentialing and privileging will be done in accordance with the provisions of VHA Handbook 1100.19. This VHA Handbook provides updated VHA procedures regarding credentialing and privileging, to include incorporating: VHA policy concerning VetPro; credentialing during activation of the facility Disaster Plan; clarifications for the Summary Suspension of Privileges process in order to ensure both patient safety and practitioner rights, the credentialing requirements for other providers.
Training (BLS, ACLS, CPRS, and VA MANDATORY): Radiology Technologist (s) shall meet all VA educational requirements and mandatory course requirements defined herein; all training must be completed by the Contractor’s Technologist (s) as required by the VA. Post-award, BLS, ACLS, and CPRS certification session conducted by VAPAHCS will be open to vendor’s employees for re-certification purposes only.
HOURS OF OPERATION
VA Business Hours: Various tours of duty which may include day, evening, nights, weekends, holidays and on-calls. Coverage at various outpatient VA clinics is also required, as needed. Management reserves the right to determine and/or change the tour of duty. lunch is a 30-minute break. Work hours may vary depending on clinical responsibilities.
