Description

We are seeking a diligent and reliable individual to join our team as a Part-Time Fitness Equipment Preventive Maintenance Technician. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the proper functioning and safety of fitness equipment through regular preventive maintenance checks. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a passion for promoting health and wellness.

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance checks on various types of fitness equipment, including treadmills, stationary bikes, elliptical machines, weight machines, etc.
  • Inspect equipment for signs of wear and tear, damage, or malfunctioning components.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment as needed to maintain optimal performance and prolong lifespan.
  • Conduct minor repairs and adjustments to equipment, such as tightening bolts, replacing belts, or adjusting tension settings.
  • Document all maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and parts replacements, in maintenance logs or digital databases.
  • Identify and report any safety hazards or concerns related to equipment operation.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff and fitness center personnel to coordinate maintenance schedules and prioritize tasks.
  • Assist in the ordering and inventory management of maintenance supplies and replacement parts.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to equipment maintenance requests and addressing any concerns from fitness center members or staff.
  • Stay informed about new developments and best practices in fitness equipment maintenance and safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or vocational training in mechanical or electrical fields preferred.
  • Proven experience in equipment maintenance, preferably in a fitness center or similar environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of basic hand and power tools used in equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and perform physical tasks as required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Commitment to promoting health and wellness in a fitness center environment.
