Position Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor/Planner is responsible for supervising, scheduling, planning, and implementing all maintenance activities in the facility in order to maximize equipment effectiveness and availability while following established safety, environmental, and regulatory practices and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.
- Primarily responsible for supervising, creating, planning, and organizing the daily activities of the maintenance department and may be called on to assist in supervising other departments.
- Analyzes daily production reports and downtime detail reports, identifies trends and develops action plans to improve performance.
- Ensures that maintenance issues are efficiently and effectively addressed while working with maintenance personnel or other GNC personnel
- Make certain all personnel adhere to company safety standards, policies and procedures.
- Verify all employees are correctly using safety equipment and PPE as required.
- Confirm all safety inspections are completed and documented as required and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations with maintenance employees. Coach employees regarding job performance and provide recommendations for improvement as needed.
- Champions continuous improvement initiatives & lean principals within the maintenance department and organization.
- Provides daily direction, follows up on assignments, and assists in troubleshooting or repairs.
- Monitors and performs equipment inspections of maintenance activities in the facility for safety and workmanship.
- Establishes preventative and predictive maintenance procedures, determines the frequency of work tasks, and follows up with any recommended changes.
- Communicate with Production to prioritize work and ensure all equipment is available and functioning properly.
- Works with contractors, suppliers, and vendors in project planning and execution, while maintaining a safe workplace, and verifying work quality.
- Assists in equipment spare parts lists, machine guarding, maintenance schedules, and establishing preventative maintenance tasks.
- Administers the CMMS program and maintains responsibility in documentation, accuracy, and follow up.
- Confirms all parts and labor for one-time work is identified and available.
- Partners with Purchasing for parts inventory and tracking.
- All other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
- The position requires a minimum of nine core work hours, additional hours may be required.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays.
- Works closely with outside contractors scheduling work, communicating/enforcing policies, & providing work direction.
- Serves as management team member by suggesting beneficial changes in personnel policies, work methods, machinery and equipment, products and services and all aspects of operations.
- Remains current on changes in policies, procedures and product information, attending authorized training programs and seminars.
- Assists in machine troubleshooting, repair, and provides technical training when needed.
WORK RELATIONSHIP AND SCOPE
Reports directly to Maintenance Manager. Works closely with machine operators, production supervisors, production scheduler, material handlers, designers, and customer service.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required
Individual must possess: high school diploma or equivalency; formal maintenance training (apprenticeship or technical degree) five years’ experience in manufacturing maintenance (corrugated industry preferred); 3 to 5 years
’ experience as a supervisor or leadership position; excellent safety record; ability to perform mathematical calculations involving adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions, decimals and percentages; ability to follow written, verbal or diagrammatic instructions; excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills; legible handwriting to record information and fill out forms; ability to delegate responsibility when appropriate; ability to: plan, prioritize and organize work effectively; work effectively under pressure and time deadlines; analyze problems (not just symptoms), propose reasonable solutions, make logical decisions, carry out decisions made and follow up with feedback where appropriate.
Maintenance Supervisor must possess the ability to supervise skilled workers with a wide variety of experience in plant operations. They need to possess excellent troubleshooting skills, technical knowledge of production equipment both, mechanical and electrical, computer-controlled operations, and have the ability to motivate maintenance personal. Maintenance Supervisor must be able to plan and coordinate several projects simultaneously, work closely with Production, or Contractors, and generate ideas that can lead to reduction of cost and improvement of work processes. It is also necessary to have excellent communication, problem solving, organizational, and moderate to advanced computer skills.
