Summary

Job Purpose:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the maintenance team to ensure that plant, equipment, and facilities are maintained to a high standard of safety, efficiency, and reliability. This role involves planning and coordinating maintenance activities, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance personnel and subcontractors to ensure timely and efficient maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  • Plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Monitor inventory of tools, parts, and supplies and order replacements as necessary.
  • Train and mentor maintenance staff, ensuring high standards of workmanship and safety.
  • Liaise with other departments to coordinate maintenance needs and priorities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly and effectively.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience in a similar supervisory role within construction, civil engineering, or industrial environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or civil maintenance systems.
  • Experience with maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Relevant trade qualification or engineering background (mechanical, electrical, or civil).
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and practices.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
