Summary

The Building Maintenance Worker is responsible for keeping buildings in good condition by performing repairs, inspections, and general upkeep.

**General Responsibilities**

  • Routine Inspections: Regularly checking building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Repairs & Maintenance: Fixing minor electrical, plumbing, and structural issues (e.g., replacing light fixtures, unclogging drains, patching drywall).
  • HVAC System Maintenance: Changing air filters, checking thermostats, and ensuring heating/cooling systems function properly.
  • Plumbing Work: Fixing leaks, unclogging toilets and sinks, and maintaining water systems.
  • Electrical Repairs: Replacing outlets, switches, fuses, and troubleshooting minor electrical issues.
  • Painting & Carpentry: Touch-up painting, repairing doors/windows, and installing shelves or fixtures.
  • Groundskeeping: Mowing lawns, removing snow, maintaining sidewalks, and general landscaping.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensuring fire alarms, sprinklers, and emergency exits are in working order.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Keeping tools, elevators, and building machinery in good condition.
  • Cleaning & Sanitation: Assisting with janitorial tasks, such as cleaning common areas and disposing of waste.
  • Emergency Repairs: Responding to urgent maintenance issues, such as power outages or water leaks.
  • Managing work orders.
  • Supervising other maintenance staff or contractors.
  • Maintaining an inventory of supplies and ordering materials when needed.
