Position Overview:
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the plant's equipment operates safely, at the highest capacity, with the highest possible on-stream time, for the lowest long-term cost of ownership.
What you will be doing:
* Being a change agent, inspiring discipline, efficiency, and accountability to the maintenance workforce in the overall execution of day-to-day activities.
* Work with Planners/Schedulers/Maintenance Supervisors to establish work processes that will help improve efficiency.
* Performs field audits regarding planning and scheduling effectiveness.
* Be a custodian of the plant's HSE policies and procedures, particularly as it relates to design, planning, and field execution of work.
* Supports Reliability Engineer with optimization of preventative, predictive, and condition-based maintenance based on failure and inspection history.
* Support Operations and Maintenance on troubleshooting failures, repairs and evaluating whether the equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions.
* Ensure repair techniques, repair procedures, and equipment-specific training are documented and made available.
* Recommend (to Operations and Maintenance) items to include in turnaround work.
* Leads Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) teams to diagnose equipment failures and drive corrective actions utilizing expertise on failures and repair techniques.
* Implement and monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions on a regular basis resulting from RCFA's, audits, and assessments.
* Provides technical input on Capital/Expense projects and equipment specifications and manages small capital projects as needed ensuring they are completed safely, on-time, and on budget.
* Actively participate in plant's HSE activities and training.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. Mechanical engineering preferred.
* Min of 2+ years of relevant maintenance and reliability experience, preferably in a chemical, petrochemical, or refinery production plants with emphasis on planning, scheduling, and executing maintenance activities.
* Experience in sulfuric acid plants is preferred
* PM planning and execution.
* API, ASME, ANSI Codes and Standards
* Formal Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) training/certification
* SAP experience
* Strong knowledge of applicable HSE procedures/practices such as Permit to Work, Energy Isolation, Respiratory Protection, PPE, Emergency Response
* Proven analytical troubleshooting/problem-solving skills; able to apply them to assess and improve equipment reliability.
* Strong, clear, and concise communication (written and verbal).
* Competent computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office programs and databases.
* Team player able to build productive and positive working relationships with cross-functional teams.
* Works well under pressure - ability to meet tight deadlines with quality results.
