Location: Kensworth, Central Bedfordshire

Role: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8-4.30pm (on-call and out of hours will be required on rare occasions)

Salary: Up to and around £57,500 (competitive depending on experience) + company car


We are recruiting now for a Maintenance and Pipeline Engineer to come and join a fantastic team and client of ours based in Kensworth, Central Bedfordshire.

The purpose of this role is to lead and manage maintenance resources to deliver excellence in plant reliability whilst meeting safety, health, environmental, production, quality and financial targets at Kensworth and Southam, including the pipeline to Rugby.


Role Summary:

  • Plan and delivery of a physical environment at Kensworth & Southam through building safety into all predictive and preventative maintenance processes and procedures leading to zero harm to employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Identify training and train the Kensworth team including company training, toolbox talks, safety alerts and inhouse investigations in a timely manner to support and build the teams safety culture.
  • Complete target safety inspections, NMHA completion and VFL’s to support employees to look after themselves and each other.
  • Contribute as a member of the maintenance management team to formulate the plants maintenance strategies, playing a role in the decision-making process on a continual basis. Taking lead role on reliability issues.
  • Advising the Engineering & Maintenance Manager on the pipeline, mechanical, electrical & reliability strategy for the plant, considering the changes in the business environment, safety, pipeline and environmental legislation and the best practices from the maintenance strategies.
  • Planning and controlling the annual plant shutdown so that plant safety and efficiency is optimized.
  • Support the Engineering and Maintenance manager in developing the plant mechanical maintenance budget.
  • Monitor the budget daily, identifying deviations and taking corresponding corrective actions to ensure the performance is monitored and controlled to meet the agreed budgets.
  • Carry out small Capital projects, ensuring these are executed in accordance with the budgets available and the correct return on investment is achieved
  • Motivate & develop the maintenance team so that the required level of skill and knowledge is acquired and retained, and motivation is high.
  • Carry out systematic checks to ensure the maintenance department are developing, issuing archiving the correct documentation in relation to Health and Safety, The Environment and all legal requirements.


Candidate Experience:

  • Previous experience of managing complex cement plant shutdowns
  • Deep knowledge of mechanical engineering in a cement and clinker manufacturing environment
  • Some knowledge of electrical and process engineering in a cement plant context.
  • Good knowledge of UK safety regulations
  • Some knowledge of UK environmental regulations and policies
  • Strong people management / leadership skills
  • Managing large budgets
  • Ability to operate in extremely stressful situations
  • Communicate on all levels.
