Overall Purpose Of The Role
Lead the site Maintenance function in providing both a reactive and pro-active, multi-skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure. Responsible for planned schedule creation and overseeing the adherence and timely completion of work carried out. Increase the site operational effectiveness, improve on project delivery, mean time between failure and downtime reduction, and manage and implement improvement plans, driving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) ensuring that Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements are adhered to. Manage the team on technical best practices and establish standard policies and procedures while also mentoring and leading the department.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the position holder is responsible for ensuring that the facilities, layout, and machinery used to produce medium voltage and specialty compounds to their maximum efficiency and output.
This includes total preventative maintenance and managing breakdowns of mechanical or electrical equipment (including software programming). Includes people management and budgetary/cost reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the maintenance function, providing both reactive and proactive services on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure.
Drive safety as a core value, addressing EHS concerns, and acting as a safety role model.
Develop and implement maintenance strategies, policies, processes, and procedures to improve operational performance.
Manage and oversee planned maintenance schedules, ensuring timely completion of work and adherence to ISO standards and other regulatory requirements.
Control maintenance payroll, spending budgets, and manage capital expenditure proposals.
Ensure the facility and equipment are in excellent operating condition, supporting operations and distribution.
Develop and manage Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programs.
Lead and manage the maintenance team, ensuring proper staffing levels, skill development, and performance through coaching, training, and reviews.
Utilize Lean and Six Sigma tools for continuous improvement and problem-solving.
Provide technical expertise and support for new and improved products, methods, and processes.
Manage the introduction of new machinery and equipment, from specification to full installation.
Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget and forecasts.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as safety, customer service, and work order attainment.
Ensure routine calibration and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
Manage contractors on-site to ensure compliance with legal and company requirements.
Communicate effectively with other departments, customers, suppliers, and service providers.
Stay current on industry standards and practices, seeking continuous improvement.
Effectively delegate maintenance work to be resolved on each shift and small projects to the right skills in the team
Be available for emergency problems on a 24/7 production schedule. Please note this position may require non-routine hours on an occasional basis.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum 3 years of experience leading teams.
A relevant technical /engineering degree is preferred.
Project Management (CAPEX) experience is preferred.
Extensive plant-level experience with proven management experience.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance-related software.
Ability to manage a variety of cross-functional team members.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
Competent in problem-solving, team building, planning, and decision making.
