Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a Mainframe Systems Engineer with expertise in IBM z/VM and z/Linux systems to join our technology team. This is a critical role focused on the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of mainframe systems, ensuring high availability, reliability, and security for our enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain IBM z/VM and z/Linux systems.
• Perform system installations, configurations, and software upgrades for mainframe platforms.
• Manage Linux on Z workloads, tuning for optimal performance, scalability, and resource utilization.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues related to z/VM and z/Linux infrastructure.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational policies and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to support projects, application integration, and performance tuning.
• Stay informed on emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance system architecture and operations.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• 3-6+ years of experience in mainframe systems engineering, with a strong focus on z/VM and z/Linux.
• Proven expertise in IBM z/VM installation, customization, and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of Linux on Z administration, performance tuning, and security.
• Experience with virtualization, workload management, and automation tools.
• Familiarity with mainframe networking, storage, and security protocols.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Specialist – z/VM, Linux on IBM Z).
• Experience with enterprise storage systems and backup solutions.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools, automation, and containerized environments in hybrid cloud setups.
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Linux on IBM Z certifications
• ITIL or relevant industry certifications
