Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Mainframe DB2 Administrator to manage
IBM z/OS operating systems and
DB2 Databases in
Plano, TX. This role involves
installation, configuration, upgrade, and maintenance of mainframe environments, with a focus on
system architecture, workload management, and production control. The ideal candidate will also lead
migration projects and provide technical mentorship to mainframe professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM z/OS operating systems and associated system software (SMP/E, JES2, RACF, SMF).
- Manage Mainframe DB2 Administration for optimal performance and data integrity.
- Oversee Production Control, Scheduling, and Storage Management for enterprise applications.
- Utilize IODF/IOCP Skills for effective system configuration and resource management.
- Drive Workload Management (WLM), Performance Tuning, and System-Level Debugging.
- Lead VTS & Hardware Upgrades, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruptions.
- Administer IWS (TWS) & JOBTRAC tools for efficient workload scheduling.
- Manage Mainframe System Automation Tools such as IBM SA z/OS and CA OPS/MVS.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to System Programmers, Administrators, and Production Control Teams.
- Execute Migration Projects from CA-OPS/MVS to IBM System Automation.
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve complex system issues and outages.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in Mainframe DB2 Administration.
- Extensive experience with z/OS System Architecture, including IODF/IOCP.
- Expertise with IWS (TWS), JOBTRAC tools, and VTS & Hardware Upgrades.
- Deep understanding of IBM Z Architecture, Workload Management (WLM), and Performance Tuning.
- Strong skills in Mainframe System Automation with IBM SA z/OS and CA OPS/MVS.
- Proven experience leading Migration Projects and managing mainframe environments.
- Familiarity with REXX Programming, CLIST, and Netview PIPE Programming.
- Ability to mentor Mainframe Professionals and System Programmers.
- Strong problem-solving skills and expertise in system debugging.
- Ability to work onsite five days a week in Plano, TX.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with Mainframe Network Administration.
- Advanced knowledge of Storage, RACF, CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, WAS Technologies.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and capacity management.
