Mainframe Business Analyst

Location: Quincy, Massachusetts (Hybrid)

Duration: 6 Months (Contract)

Pay Rate: $40/hr

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in legacy mainframe systems for a 6-month contract opportunity in Quincy, MA. This hybrid role involves working closely with both internal stakeholders and third-party development teams to analyze, define, and support the implementation of systems enhancements. While actual coding is not required, familiarity with mainframe technologies is essential to effectively oversee development activities and validate outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and document business requirements for legacy mainframe applications
• Collaborate with end users to identify and develop cost-effective system and procedural solutions
• Write functional requirements and recommend development strategies to third-party vendors
• Oversee third-party development efforts, ensuring alignment with business goals and system requirements
• Review and validate test results; lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business stakeholders
• Recommend and support implementation strategies based on analysis and testing outcomes
• Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve application, system, or business process issues
• Design specifications and support the planning and execution of integration and acceptance testing when needed

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst supporting legacy mainframe systems
• Strong working knowledge of COBOL, Easytrieve, IMS, VSAM, JCL, SQL, and DB2
• Ability to write detailed functional requirements and recommend practical technical solutions
• Experience overseeing third-party development teams and reviewing system test results
• Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to lead UAT and guide implementation strategies effectively
• Familiarity with systems analysis, process documentation, and functional design
