Scope/Summary Statement: The Machinist will be responsible for the planning, setup, and operation of all machine shop equipment such as milling, grinding, drilling, band/chop saw, turning (lathe work) and polishing.
Job Function Statements
Set up and monitor all shop machines and there processes. Including holding tolerances of +/- .002.
Read and understand blue prints, drawings, sketches and instructions to complete specifications of output.
Must be able to setup and operate all manual machine shop equipment.
Custom machine parts for "fit and function". Not all parts will have drawings or specifications.
Communicate and collaborate with various departments to create proto type components parts, assemblies, tooling gages, maintenance repair parts and test equipment.
Must be able to accurately use measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, pin gages and other standard precision measuring devices.
Education And / Or Experience
High School graduate or GED required, completion of technical school highly recommended.
Minimum of 5 years of machining experience.
Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders, etc.).
CNC programming and CAD software experience is a plus.
Ability to machine and fabricate parts.
Certified Welder is a plus.
Ability to work in a safety conscious manner; understanding safety guidelines and protocols.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform related tasks in a time-sensitive environment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift 35 pounds.
