What You’ll Do

With your knowledge of numeric controls (CNC), specialized tooling, and more related to machining, you will excel in the specialized operation of metal-cutting equipment. You will perform close-tolerance machining and setups and use a variety of precision measuring instruments.

  • Set up saws, adjust cutting speeds, and install blades
  • Ensure the saws are properly lubricated and maintained
  • Measure the length to cut to specifications
  • Examine completed workpieces for defects
  • Keep accurate records of production
  • Proper use of labeling and marking of material
  • Accurately completing paperwork
  • Observe and promote safety standards
  • Operate an overhead crane to safely move material
  • Help the materials team maintain the pit area and bar storage.
  • Identify any low quantities of available material


Your Experiences & Skills

  • One (1) year of CNC training in an accredited vocational institute and three (3) years of machining experience is preferred
  • Ability to interpret written instructions and specifications
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Good mathematical aptitude
  • Ability to read and comprehend detailed drawings, sketches, notes, blueprints, and understand tolerances
  • Experience in performing setups and tool changes
  • Experience in finished parts inspection using various precision measurement tools
  • Must be flexible to perform a variety of assignments
  • Must be able to provide own basic inspection and hand tools
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Knowledge of metric dimensions
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed
