Position Summary
The Machinist I role serves as an entry-level position designed to build foundational skills in machining, equipment operation, and measurement techniques. The individual in this role will be trained to operate machinery, including the CNC Panel Saw, and will use basic measuring tools to ensure accurate production. The Machinist I will also be expected to develop their ability to read technical drawings, perform basic troubleshooting, and maintain equipment through routine cleaning and maintenance. This role offers the opportunity to learn more advanced processes, including CNC operation and programming, while working under the guidance of experienced machinists. A focus on safety, quality, and precision is essential to success in this position. All new hires will complete safety onboarding to ensure adherence to company protocols and promote operational excellence.
Essential Functions
- Operate the CNC Panel Saw and other entry-level machinery as assigned, following instructions to execute cutting and machining tasks accurately.
- Use basic measuring tools (e.g., calipers, rulers, tape measures) to ensure dimensions and tolerances meet production specifications.
- Read and interpret basic and complex technical drawings to guide machining tasks, with training provided as needed.
- Identify deviations from drawings and specifications, escalating any issues to supervisors for correction.
- Assist with basic machine setup, including loading materials and selecting appropriate tools under supervision.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery to ensure operational efficiency.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting on machinery to resolve minor issues and prevent delays in production.
- Learn and follow all safety protocols, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of machinery.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors to ensure that tasks are completed according to production schedules.
- Show a willingness to learn and develop more advanced skills, including CNC operation and intermediate troubleshooting.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Understanding of entry-level CNC machine operation, hand tools, and measuring equipment.
- Strong focus on maintaining quality in production processes.
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions related to machine operation and safety protocols.
- Eagerness to develop skills in advanced CNC operation, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Capable of identifying and solving simple machine-related issues with supervision.
- Commitment to following safety protocols and maintaining a safe work environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational school certificate or completion of a formal apprenticeship program in machining or a related field preferred.
- Basic math skills for measuring and calculating dimensions.
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools (training provided).
- Willingness to learn CNC operation, programming, and advanced machining techniques.
- Physical stamina to work on your feet for extended periods in a production environment.
- Completion of company-provided safety training upon hire.

Full-time hourly payrate $20 - $26 dependent upon experience, and qualifications.
