Job Summary

Apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material according to the work order specifications using advanced machinery or having an advanced level of skill in the use of warehouse machinery. Ensure that processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition. Maintain processing area in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Complete all required information entry accurately. Perform any other tasks as assigned.

Brake Press Operator Role

Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintain or repair equipment where applicable.
  • Produce parts for production line required by job type specified below.
  • Complete and maintain paperwork.
  • Resolve/notify production issues.
  • Ensure machine is calibrated & cleaned as per 6S requirements.
  • Ensure working environment is clean and safe.
  • Report inaccurate bill of material & routings.
  • Complete quality control spot inspections/measure and confirm part specifications to drawing.
  • Identify & implement process improvements.
  • Meet customer specifications and delivery requirements.
  • Maintain proper logins for computer system.
  • Meet labour performance requirements of job routings.
  • Count parts being completed.
  • Required to assist other shop areas if production is slow including but not limited to: Grinding, Hardware, Packaging, Assembly, Shake-out, Deburring, Cutting, Machine loading, Tapping


Job Specific Responsibilities:

  • Creating and loading bending programs.
  • Loading tooling as required by the bend program.
  • Sharpen and maintain tools as per manufacturing requirements.
  • Maintain catalog of tooling and order replacement or new tooling as required.
  • Perform general maintenance where required including but not limited to:
  • Oil change
  • Maintain punches and dyes
  • General cleaning of the brake press


Physical Demands:

  • The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Certified steel toed shoes are required at all times.


Required

  • 2-5 years of experience working with brake presses – highly preferred experience with Trumpf brake presses
  • Experience programming brake presses an asset– highly preferred Trumpf Boost experience
  • Solid understanding of forming technology and mechanical aptitude
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willing to learn operation of additional machines
  • Role will transition to a night-shift role from 3:30 pm to 1:30 am
