Position Summary
The Machine Operator will be responsible for operating, maintaining various machines, including saws, drill presses, shears, brakes, CNC mills, and CNC lathes. The role requires a detail-oriented individual who focuses on quality, safety, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate machinery such as saws, drill presses, shears, brakes, CNC mills, and CNC lathes to fabricate metal components
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to ensure precise product specifications
Operate CNC mills and to achieve precise cuts and dimensions.
Perform quality inspections on completed products to ensure they meet design specifications and company standards
Perform routine maintenance on machines, including lubrication, cleaning, and troubleshooting mechanical or operational issues
Monitor machine operations and make adjustments to optimize performance and maintain product quality
Work with stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel, understanding their properties and handling requirements
Follow safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to OSHA standards
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the proper storage of materials and tools
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and targets
Document production data and report any issues, downtime, or inefficiencies to the Production Supervisor
Knowledge & Skills
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately
Familiarity with working on materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel
Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic machine issues
Knowledge of CNC programming and adjustments is a plus
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods during shifts
Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment
Experience
1-3 years of experience operating machinery in a metal fabrication environment
Proficiency in operating saws, drill presses, shears, brakes, CNC mills, and CNC lathes
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
