Key Job Elements
Keep the interior of the locomotive safe, clean, and tidy;
Apply rules, special instructions, and switching procedures including operating switches and derails, coupling and uncoupling railcars, managing air hoses, applying and releasing handbrakes;
Provide protection of train, track, and equipment;
Perform equipment inspections and air brake tests;
Comply with all applicable operating rules, switching procedures and regulations imposed by government, the customer, and/or Progress Rail; practicing and promoting safe work habits.
Education / Training
Industrial Railways Operation Certification;
Technical College degree;
Mechanical aptitude;
Welding experience;
Read precision instruments and gauges;
Read and understand technical drawings and blueprints.
Qualifications and Experience
Skill Level I – Certified Engineer and Certified Conductor with 1-2 years of experience;
Skill Level II – Certified Engineer and Certified Conductor with 2-5 years of experience;
Skill Level III – Certified Engineer and Certified Conductor with 5+ years of experience.
