Job Title: Legal Assistant – Litigation
Location: Hybrid (Washington, DC) – Initially 5 days onsite, transitioning to 2–3 days onsite weekly
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM PST / 12:30 - 8:30 PM CST | 35 hours/week (flexibility and occasional overtime required)
Compensation: Up to $37/hr
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Litigation Legal Assistant to support a dynamic legal team operating on Pacific Time. This position includes task management, litigation document preparation, deadline tracking, and ongoing collaboration with attorneys and paralegals to ensure efficient and compliant workflows.
This role is hybrid and based in Washington, DC.
Key Responsibilities:
Task & Workflow Management:
- Track, monitor, and ensure timely completion of litigation-related tasks.
- Prioritize and redistribute workload as necessary to meet evolving deadlines.
- Maintain clear daily communication with attorneys and paralegals regarding task statuses and timelines.
- Coordinate effective delegation and completion of tasks across teams.
Document & Case Support:
- Prepare, edit, format, and file litigation documents electronically (e-filing).
- Organize, maintain, and manage case files and documentation according to firm standards.
- Assist with new matter intake, calendaring important dates, and managing legal holds.
- Conduct basic document reviews and assemble supporting materials for pleadings and motions.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Act as primary liaison for task progress updates.
- Facilitate collaboration among attorneys, paralegals, and administrative personnel.
- Identify and proactively address potential workflow issues and escalate as necessary.
- Coordinate across multiple time zones to ensure seamless team support.
Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all prepared documents adhere to firm formatting, confidentiality, and procedural standards.
- Perform quality checks on outgoing correspondence and filings.
- Follow established protocols for version control, documentation, and task tracking.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 5–8 years of relevant experience as a litigation legal assistant or in litigation support.
- Strong skills in document revision, docketing, and electronic filing systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of legal procedures, terminology, and document workflows.
- Proven ability to support attorneys in high-volume, deadline-intensive environments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat.
- Familiarity with Bighand, workflow tracking, or similar legal task management tools is a plus.
- Exceptional organizational, multitasking, and time-management capabilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail with proactive communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered.
