This is an onsite, short-term contract role ideal for a paralegal who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has prior experience assembling trial materials, supporting legal teams, and preparing for hearings or courtroom proceedings. The ideal candidate will have plaintiff-side litigation exposure and a strong interest in supporting an organization focused on advancing social justice and community impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, organize, and assemble trial binders and exhibit sets for attorney use
  • Support trial preparation logistics, including printing, organizing materials, and setting up equipment (e.g., projectors, cables, documents) for internal meetings and court appearances
  • Maintain case files and assist with document management and version control for trial prep
  • Provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys, including tracking deadlines and assisting with last-minute requests
  • Collaborate with staff in a resource-conscious nonprofit environment
  • Demonstrate alignment with the organization’s mission and commitment to supporting underserved communities

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of litigation paralegal experience, ideally with trial preparation or housing/landlord-tenant exposure
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks independently
  • Comfortable working onsite and assisting with physical setup and logistics
  • Clear, professional communication skills and a team-oriented approach
  • Familiarity with plaintiff-side litigation and/or nonprofit legal work strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PDF editing tools
  • Familiarity with trial preparation software or legal document management tools
  • Work experience with housing justice organizations, legal aid, or other community-focused legal nonprofits is preferred
  • Must be willing and able to work onsite, Monday through Friday, in the San Francisco office (remote work is not available for this role)
