The Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS), a state agency headquartered in Tallahassee Florida s capital city is seeking a qualified candidate to join its Office of Information Technology as a Linux Systems Administrator. DFS is looking for a strong communicator capable of effectively collaborating across both technical and non-technical teams. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to work independently, and possess strong skills in system configuration, architecture, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems
• Set up hardware and software systems
• Create, manage, and delete user accounts and permissions
• Monitor system performance and ensure uptime
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues
• Apply system patches and updates
• Monitor logs and audit trails for suspicious activity
• Set up and manage system backups
• Develop disaster recovery plans and test them regularly
• Write and maintain shell scripts to automate repetitive tasks
• Install, update, and manage software using package managers
• Maintain version control for custom applications
• Provide technical support for system-related issues
• Work closely with development and operations teams
• Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, procedures, and system changes
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Linux System Administrator
• Proficiency in English language
