Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux Engineer to work with a financial services end customer.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux systems engineering within financial services environments. Experience with GTIS (Global Technology Infrastructure Services) and Windows systems is also essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain Linux-based systems to support business operations and technology initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and scalable infrastructure solutions.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and performance tuning across a variety of Linux distributions.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of system upgrades, patches, and security hardening.
  • Ensure system availability, reliability, and business continuity through proactive monitoring and incident response.
  • Contribute to automation and configuration management efforts to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Work with GTIS and Windows platform teams to ensure seamless integration and support across environments.
  • Document systems configurations, procedures, and policies.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Linux Engineer in enterprise-scale environments, ideally within the financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux OS internals, networking, and storage.
  • Hands-on experience with GTIS tools and practices.
  • Proficiency with configuration management and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or similar).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
  • Solid understanding of IT security principles and best practices.
  • Experience with Windows server environments and interoperability with Linux systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications such as RHCE, LPIC, or similar.
  • Experience in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
This is an inside IR35 role working via umbrella company.
