Linux Engineer – Contract Position with Potential for Full-Time Conversion

Location: Onsite 5 Days/Week – Berkeley Heights, NJ or Alpharetta, GA

Join a leading provider of global fintech infrastructure as a Linux Engineer in a full-time onsite contract role. This position offers the potential for conversion to permanent employment based on performance and business needs. You'll play a key role in supporting and automating Linux platforms that power secure, high-availability payment and transaction services worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, Perl, and Ansible.
  • Handle patching and lifecycle management of RHEL 7–9 systems using Red Hat Satellite and Ansible Automation Platform.
  • Implement and support Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) solutions, including Active Directory integration.
  • Monitor Linux environments for security vulnerabilities and ensure remediation and compliance.
  • Apply server hardening best practices, leveraging CIS benchmarks and Red Hat policies.
  • Follow ITIL processes for incident, change, and problem management.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for audits, configurations, and operational continuity.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and operations teams to improve system reliability and automation.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and perform updates during scheduled maintenance windows.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience, focused on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7–9).
  • Expertise with Ansible Automation Platform, playbook development, and infrastructure automation.
  • Practical knowledge of Red Hat IDM and access control solutions.
  • Scripting proficiency in Bash, Python, or Perl.
  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite for patching and system lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with virtualization (VMware) and cloud platforms like Azure.
  • Understanding of Linux security, including SELinux, firewalls, and intrusion prevention.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent work/military experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation.
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on proactive, automated solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
