Job Title: Galvanizing Line Operator

Job Grade

Reports To: Branch Manager

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Position Summary

The Galvanizing Line Operator receives instructions from the Plant Manager or Team Leader about daily assignments and expectations. The operator will have been trained on the equipment and processes in the operations area and will be required to follow processes and procedures either posted or directed by management.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Ability to perform operation tasks as assigned and follow management instructions.
  • Assures their assignments are completed on time.
  • Responsible for the quality checkpoints at assigned stations.
  • Responsible for safety and housekeeping of their area.
  • Fills out paperwork according to manager instructions.
  • Uses forklifts and overhead hoists to load and carry material.
  • Ability to identify parts to be processed on their line.
  • Thoroughness.
  • Must follow safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

Education and Experience Required:

  • HS Diploma or GED Equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Communication proficiency, both verbal and written.
  • Time management skills.

Preferred Education, Experience, And Skills

  • Forklift Certification

Physical Requirements: Qualified applicants must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Must be able to lift/move objects up to 10 pounds regularly
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 75 pounds 1+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to endure exposure to a hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to work in crowded spaces for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to bend and crawl for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to crouch, kneel, and stoop for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for 8+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, push, pull, perform fine manipulation, and feel for 6+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to operate foot pedals for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to make fine distinctions in sound, express and exchange written or spoken word, and distinguish objects and equipment visually
  • Must be able to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
