This is a 10-month-per-year position, with a work schedule based on the school calendar and aligned with student contact days.

ANTICIPATED START DATE: AUGUST 2025

This position is responsible for providing health care consultation, examination and treatments to students at the Perpich Center for Arts Education. The person in the position will administer medications according to the student’s medical health care plan and maintain the health care record system. It is important that this individual be able to provide a nurturing, child-friendly environment by employing good listening skills and empathy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid and unrestricted LPN license in Minnesota.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or ability to obtain within the probationary period.
  • Experience in administering and documenting prescribed medications, including monitoring for adverse reactions and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents/guardians from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student health information in accordance with HIPAA and school policies.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with electronic health record systems.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise professional judgment, and respond appropriately to medical situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as an LPN in a school setting, particularly in a residential or dormitory environment.
  • Experience working with high school students and those with mental health needs.
  • Experience collaborating with a team to develop and implement individualized health plans for students.
  • Ability to engage with students and families from diverse cultural backgrounds, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
  • Training or experience in handling medical emergencies and behavioral crises in a school setting.
  • Additional certification or training in pediatric care, mental health first aid, or other relevant areas.
