OPTICIAN We are currently interviewing for a full-time optician position (36 hours). RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist patients by giving courteous, professional service in making appropriate selections for eyewear purchases. Must have strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information clearly to patients. Familiarity with current optical products (frames, lenses and contact lenses). Responsible for keeping track of frame inventory (sales, ordering and receiving stock). Use optical software to enter patient demographics, prescription information and create optical lab orders. Currently utilizing Compulink and WAVE RFID frame inventory management. Should maintain a well-organized work area, keep accurate records and monitor optical jobs in progress as required; greet patients, answer phones, input data, dust merchandise displays, etc. as necessary. Verify patient insurance coverage and submit claims; contact patients with prepared cost estimates for prescription eyewear purchases. Submit all RX jobs to optical laboratory for processing (spectacle and contact lenses) and post to patient ledger. Collect initial deposits, contact patients when orders are ready, and collect all monies due when orders are dispensed. Responsible for processing and accounting for all daily cash transactions in the optical shop. Maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers. REQUIRED: Friendly, professional and outgoing personality with excellent customer service skills. Must have excellent computer skills Familiarity with COMPULINK practice management software preferred ABO Certification preferred RI optician license preferred 2 years experience in optical sales (including knowlege of technical aspects of eyewear and lenses, eyeglass repairs and adjustments) High School Diploma BENEFITS: PRO-RATED BASED ON HOURS WORKED SCHEDULE: M-Thu 8:30-5:00pm, Fri 8:30-12:30pm Pay is commensurate with the experience required for the job.
