Job Overview
The Dardanelle Library Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, services, and staff of the Dardanelle Branch Library. This leadership role ensures that the library remains a welcoming, resourceful, and dynamic hub for the community. The manager works under the direction of the Yell County Librarian and the Arkansas River Valley Regional Library Director, collaborating to enhance library services and promote lifelong learning.
Key Responsibilities:Library Operations & Facility Management
Ensure the efficient operation and physical upkeep of the Dardanelle Branch Library, maintaining a safe, inviting, and accessible environment for patrons and staff.
Monitor and address facility needs, coordinating necessary repairs, maintenance, and upgrades.
Implement and uphold library policies and procedures to ensure consistent and high-quality service.
Financial & Administrative Oversight
Assist in budget planning by providing consultation and recommendations to the Yell County Librarian and Yell County Library Board regarding financial and operational needs.
Maintain accurate financial records to ensure expenditures remain within the approved budget.
Prepare and present reports, statistics, and evaluations for the Yell County Library Board and the Arkansas River Valley Regional Library Board to assess library performance and community impact.
Staff Supervision & Development
Lead, train, and mentor Dardanelle Branch Library staff, fostering a collaborative and service-oriented team culture.
Delegate responsibilities effectively while supporting staff in planning, coordinating, and executing programming, outreach, and library services.
Conduct staff evaluations and provide professional development opportunities to ensure continuous growth and skill enhancement.
Collection Development & Services
Assess, inventory, and evaluate the library's collection and resources to ensure materials meet community needs.
Make informed decisions on acquisitions, ensuring new materials align with patron interests and support educational and recreational needs.
Oversee cataloging and processing to ensure materials are shelf-ready in a timely manner.
Community Engagement & Programming
Develop and oversee library programs that engage diverse community members, including children, teens, and adults.
Strengthen community partnerships by collaborating with local organizations, schools, and businesses to enhance programming and outreach efforts.
Promote library services through various marketing channels, including social media, local media, and in-library displays.
Professional Development & Innovation
Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in public library services, technology, and programming.
Participate in relevant regional and state professional meetings, workshops, and in-service training sessions to enhance library services and operations.
Advocate for the role of the library in the community, demonstrating leadership in promoting literacy, access to information, and lifelong learning.
Qualifications & Educational Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree with at least 18 hours of library science coursework, or a minimum of two years of college plus 18 hours of library science coursework.
Alternatively, 18 hours of State Library-offered courses may be substituted for the required library science coursework.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Experience in library services, community outreach, staff supervision, or program development is preferred.
Passion for literacy, education, and community service.
