SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:
A District Library Integration Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring seamless integration and utilization of library resources, systems, and services across the district's schools. This position is responsible for overseeing library technology systems, supporting instructional staff, and promoting the use of library resources to enhance student learning and achievement. The coordinator will collaborate with administrators, teachers, and library staff to develop, implement, and evaluate library programs, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the district's students and educators.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
The following outlines what your core duties and responsibilities will be for this position and provides a sample overview of what your day-to-day may look like.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
* Oversee the district's library management systems, ensuring they are integrated effectively across all schools. Provide technical support for the use of library automation systems, digital catalogs, and other resources.
* Collaborate with teachers and staff to incorporate library resources into curriculum planning and instruction. Provide guidance on utilizing digital and physical library materials to support educational goals.
* Plan and deliver training for teachers, staff, and library personnel on the use of library resources, technology, and best practices for integrating libraries into the educational process.
* Work with library staff to evaluate, select, and acquire appropriate resources (books, digital media, etc.) to support district needs, ensuring alignment with curriculum standards and student needs.
* Collect, analyze, and report data on library usage and program effectiveness. Use data to inform decision-making and improve library services district-wide.
* Act as the liaison between district administration, school libraries, and outside partners. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to promote library services and ensure alignment with district goals.
* Stay updated on the latest library technologies and trends in education. Recommend and implement new tools to improve library services and instructional integration.
* Assist in the development of district policies regarding library services and resources, ensuring they comply with educational standards and best practices.
* Serve as a key point of contact in the district for addressing book challenges or concerns raised by students, parents, or staff regarding library resources.
* Follow district procedures for evaluating and responding to book challenges, ensuring that responses are in alignment with district policies, state laws, and educational standards.
* Support the identification of funding opportunities and assist with grant writing or fundraising efforts to support library initiatives and resources.
"Day In the Life" Overview
On a regular day, as the Library Integration Coordinator you might:
* Meet with media specialists and/or media assistants to discuss programming needs, collection management, literacy development, instructional practice, re-teaching strategies and provide support mechanisms for classroom, information literacy, and reading literacy success.
* Attend meetings and community events within the library and literacy community to plan events and strengthen partnerships between IPS and our library and literacy partners.
* Attend district meetings to support library services, reading literacy, information literacy, and related classroom instructional practices.
* Support cataloging requests made by media staff in schools.
* Plan library media professional development with partners, school media staff and other district staff.
* Develop materials and documents that support content area needs and district initiatives.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
* A degree in Library Science, Information Technology, Education, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
* Must Hold a Valid Indiana State Teachers License
* At least 3 years of experience working in library systems or education technology, with a focus on integrating library services into educational programs.
* Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including different socio-economic, cultural, and educational needs.
