About Our Learning and Organisational Development team at UMG UK

At Universal Music Group UK, our Learning and Organisational Development (L&OD) team sits at the heart of our People, Inclusion & Culture function. Our purpose is to amplify the potential of our people by fostering growth, building capability, and championing a culture where creativity and innovation can thrive. From strategic development programmes to bespoke leadership initiatives, we partner across the business to ensure our people are empowered to do their best work and continue to shape the future of music.

A Day in the Life of a Learning and Organisational Development Business Partner

No two days are ever quite the same. One day you may be coaching a senior leader on building a high-performing team, the next you could be delivering a workshop for emerging talent or consulting on an organisational design challenge for a fast-evolving department. You'll collaborate with colleagues across the UK and internationally, work closely with the wider PIC team, and bring a strategic mindset to everything from culture change initiatives to curriculum design.

Your Impact in Role

As an L&OD Business Partner, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and driving development across our UK business units. Your work will support our people to thrive, ensuring they have the skills, tools, and support they need to achieve personal success and contribute to the wider commercial goals of the organisation. Through strong partnerships, innovative thinking, and a data-informed approach, you'll help embed a culture of continuous learning and development.

Our Ideal Candidate

You are a trusted partner with a passion for developing people and organisations. You bring experience in both strategic and hands-on L&OD work, with the ability to navigate complex challenges and influence at senior levels. Your collaborative style, curiosity, and global outlook mean you’re as comfortable coaching a department lead as you are designing a new learning framework. You bring structure, creativity and credibility to everything you do.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic partner to senior leaders across UK business units, shaping development strategies aligned to business priorities.
  • Facilitate engaging and impactful learning sessions across the UK, Europe and AMEA regions.
  • Use coaching techniques and OD best practices to support cultural transformation, team effectiveness, and leadership development.
  • Analyse learning needs using data and insights to inform bespoke interventions and broader curriculum planning.
  • Contribute to and evolve our core L&OD curriculum and programmes to ensure relevance, impact and innovation.
  • Build trusted relationships across all levels of the business to drive engagement and collaboration.
  • Support succession planning, talent mobility, and skills development in partnership with Talent and HR colleagues.
  • Manage L&OD budgets and forecasting in collaboration with the Head of L&OD.
  • Share learnings and collaborate with our global People team to shape and localise development approaches.
  • Stay informed on external trends and best practice, bringing fresh thinking into the organisation.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Demonstrable experience in a learning, organisational development or talent-focused role, ideally within a global business.
  • Proven track record of partnering with senior leaders to drive development strategy and organisational effectiveness.
  • Strong facilitation and coaching skills; ideally qualified in at least one psychometric tool (e.g., DiSC, Lumina Spark, Insights Discovery).
  • Skilled in designing and delivering impactful learning experiences, both in-person and virtually.
  • Able to interpret data and feedback to inform meaningful learning solutions.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to influence, challenge and collaborate.
  • Experience in organisational design, team development and talent planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.

Why Join Our Team?

At UMG UK, you’ll be part of a vibrant, forward-thinking team that’s redefining what learning and development looks like in the creative industries. You’ll have the freedom to innovate, the opportunity to collaborate with extraordinary talent, and the chance to make a lasting impact. We’re deeply committed to fostering a workplace where everyone can grow, belong and thrive – and your role will be central to making that vision a reality.
