About SPARK NS

SPARK NS is a translational research organization dedicated to rapidly advancing promising academic discoveries in neuroscience from the lab to the clinic. Our program seeks to build cohorts of academic investigators with ongoing projects that are at any stage in drug development between having a validated target and ready to enter clinical trials. These projects will seek to serve to address unmet clinical needs in the fields of Parkinson’s Disease, Bipolar Disorder, or Autism Spectrum Disorder. SPARK NS provides funding, mentorship, and a rich network to support the translation of novel science to first-in-class therapeutics.


Role Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative individual to join our team as a Learning Experience Designer. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the educational experiences of academic researchers by designing, developing, and delivering high-quality learning experiences that drive engagement and achieve learning outcomes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts, creative teams, and other stakeholders to create compelling and effective learning solutions. The ideal candidate will have a background in biomedical research, learning experience design, or instructional design, and a passion for designing content that fosters a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Develop Learning Content: Design, develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate in person and online courses and educational sessions, including associated materials.
  • Needs Analysis: Conduct needs assessments and collaborate with stakeholders to identify learning objectives and desired outcomes.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Develop assessments, quizzes, and evaluations to measure learner progress and the effectiveness of the learning solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Gather feedback, analyze data, and make iterative improvements to the learning content and delivery methods. Conduct regular reviews and updates of existing materials to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and alignment with educational goals.
  • Content Accuracy: Ensure all educational content produced is conceptually accurate by working with subject matter experts
  • Content Curation: Source and curate relevant content, resources, and multimedia elements to enhance the learning experience.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with:
  • Subject matter experts and other stakeholders to ensure the learning content meets the needs of the organization and learners.
  • Creative teams to develop engaging content that is conceptually accurate and enhances the learning experience
  • Other Learning Experience Designers to create high quality, engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • In-Person Course Facilitation: Facilitate and provide support for courses or educational components at events. Tasks may include delivering course orientations, introducing speakers, moderating panels, facilitating interactive sessions, and generally ensuring smooth operation of educational content/experiences during the event.
  • Leadership: Lead and manage projects assigned. This includes guiding projects from initial needs assessment and design, to planning and managing timelines, and ensuring successful implementation of course design.


Qualifications

  • Masters degree or higher in a scientific field (e.g., Pharmacology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline) and 2+ years of experience in science education.
  • OR bachelors degree in Instructional Design, Learning Experience Design, with demonstrated knowledge of scientific research and drug development (certificates, courses, or experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
  • Flexibility for domestic or international travel, as needed.


Knowledge & Skills

  • Fundamental understanding of translational research and concepts related to drug development.
  • Understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google suites
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with a proactive and solutions-driven approach.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and engage stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative learning solutions that engage and motivate learners.
  • Plus: Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Rise), learning management systems (LMS).


Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Salary: $100,000 - $120,000, based on qualifications and experience.
