Summary

REQUIRED: High School diploma and a minimum of five years of experience in administrative and/or academic settings; excellent interpersonal, organizational, logistical and communications skills; ability to exercise autonomy and judgment in complex situations; discretion in confidential matters; self-starter with ability to work as part of a team; interest in working with undergraduates; and familiarity with standard office software and social media. PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree; and familiarity with MIT. Job #24936-6 Occasional evening, early morning, and/or weekend support of Terrascope programs, activities, and events required. This position is full time, 37.5 hours/week; This position is hybrid, with a blend of remote and on-campus work. Hiring range: $32.00 - $37.00/hour, determined by relevant experience and education. 5/6/2025 LEARNING COMMUNITY ASSOCIATE, Terrascope, to perform complex and diverse administrative duties and community building activities in support of the Terrascope Program, an innovative, student-centered learning community for first-year undergraduate students; oversee community activities and spaces with particular focus on students' wellbeing as they adjust to MIT; cultivate community participation and student leadership in Terrascope events and activities; manage logistics of academic advising and serve as an advisor/resource to students; performs wide variety of program operations including financial, purchasing, travel, recruitment, event planning, communications, and marketing; plan and coordinate all logistics for annual field trip (sometimes international), including transportation, housing, food, health and safety; manage supplies, purchasing, event planning and other logistics related to Terrascope classes; be responsible for program's Web presence; produce posters, brochures and other marketing tools; serve as liaison between Terrascope and other MIT units; and work in concert with Resource Development in the planning and execution of donor stewardship activities and fundraising events.
