SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Learning and Development Trainer reports to the Learning and Development Coordinator and works a flexible schedule adapted to meet the training needs of the Agency. The Trainer coordinates training with the Coordinator and other Trainers in the department. The Trainer will train staff on various topics. Trainers will usually work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and Saturdays. This position will be compensated on an hourly basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct regular orientation training for new employees via in-person or virtually
Conduct remedial training for designated employees as needed.
Conduct in-service training regarding implementation of safety care standards.
Conduct regular training in any or all of the disciplines listed: PBS, Safety Care, First Aid, CPR, AED; and Defensive Driving and Vehicle Maintenance, Human Rights and other curriculum.
Maintain all certifications required to provide trainings.
Ensure all required trainings are offered on a regular basis.
Ensure all trainings are documented in personnel files.
Ensure class rosters are maintained.
Ensure certificates are completed in timely manner.
Maintain confidentiality and positive demeanor while successfully juggling multiple priorities simultaneously.
MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with developmental skills training of staff.
Assist in transitions of individuals into or between programs.
Assist in team-building exercises
Provide crisis intervention services
Attend meetings as requested
Provide remedial assistance to staff in various areas of training
Assist in curriculum development to include creating video based curriculum
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:· Maintain all required certifications and Instructor Licenses · Thorough knowledge of principles of: Normalization, Behavior Modification, and Developmental Psychology· Ability to organize own work; ability to make group presentations (in-person & virtual).· Ability to conduct trainings at all program sites (in-person & virtual). Some travel throughout Massachusetts is required.
Must have a basic knowledge of DDS and Venture policies and procedures
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates level degree in a related field preferred and/or equivalent professional experience
Proven ability to relate effectively to developmentally disabled / physically disabledpopulation
Public speaking and training experience preferred
Safety Care Instructor within 6 months of employment as a Trainer
Associate instructor certification obtained within 3 months of employment as a Trainer,
Independent Trainer within 6 months of employment as a Trainer
Must be 21+ years old, have a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, daily use of a car on site and be available by telephone for daily contact.
Employee must possess the knowledge; skills and abilities listed above and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job. Employee must be able to speak, read and write in fluent English.
