We are currently seeking a Learning & Development Advisor to join our team.
Position Description
The Learning & Development Advisor designs, maintains, and delivers in-house training programs across the organization, delivering solutions including but not limited to: e-Learning, micro-learning videos, job aides, and instructor-led courses. This role provides leadership and support on key training initiatives and participates in complex projects and major First West training initiatives, such as system conversions, curriculum design, and product launches or campaigns. The Advisor collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure learning programs are aligned with strategic priorities and recommends training strategies that meet business and learning needs.
Accountabilities
Program Development & Delivery : Designs, develops, maintains and delivers in-house training programs. Implements people solutions that facilitate career growth and development in support of business results and advises stakeholders on training strategies. Ensures training initiatives are implemented effectively. Trains team members to apply skills learned and to achieve the required learning objectives.
Feedback : Follows-up with regional and shared services leaders to ensure training practices used are effective, and team members are applying the skills learned back on the job. Adjusts training practices and recommends changes based on feedback received. Maintains connection, network and exposure to branches/shared services to keep the finger on the ‘pulse’ of First West business needs.
Project Management : Conducts design analysis, scopes project objectives, and analyzes target audience expectations. Collaborates with stakeholders to develop and maintain an understanding of policies and procedures as well as identify stakeholder training needs. Ensures learning solutions are instructionally sound, and developed on time, within scope and budget. Develops effective project plans to facilitate the building of learning solutions to close identified gaps. Establishes credibility as a trusted partner and manages all aspects of the training design.
Virtual Training : Develops and delivers in-house remote/virtual training and web-based training programs ensuring high quality employee development solutions.
Research : Actively researches opportunities for process improvement and keeps up to date in learning technologies, trends and best practices. Makes recommendations for changes and if approved initiates the change. Stays up to date on design trends, industry standards and emerging learning technologies.
People/Thought Leadership
No direct supervisory responsibility
Qualifications
2 years developing and delivering training programs
2 years of experience within a financial institution, working in a senior retail operations role with a focus in lending (preferred)
Completion of Provincial Instructor Diploma (preferred)
Experience with facilitating or public speaking (preferred)

Intermediate PC skills and literacy with demonstrated MS Office experience.

Team-focused attitude with demonstrated natural leadership skills.
Track record of proven sales results (i.e., lending and/or investment products and services) (preferred)
Excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while leading projects and/or teams.
Lead complex projects with minimal reliance on managerial oversight
Travel
Overnight travel may be required up to 7 – 12 times per year.
Risk Management
Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.
