Lead - Testing & Validation Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of next-generation battery solutions.
Job Summary
The Lead Testing & Validation Engineer will lead a team responsible for testing, validating, and ensuring the reliability of battery packs and systems. This role requires expertise in battery management systems (BMS), data analytics, and field integration. The candidate will act as the first point of contact with EMO, diagnose prototype issues, and collaborate with external clients. Over time, they will also take on 2kWh field issue responsibilities while managing overall testing and validation functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary engineering contact for EMO, managing a team that includes lab, testing, and integration engineers.
- Interact with external clients and stakeholders to address technical challenges and ensure smooth integration.
- Diagnose and resolve prototype issues related to vehicles, inverters, chargers, and BMS while analyzing and interpreting test data.
- Develop and implement testing strategies for battery designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards like IEC, IS, UL, and AIS 156.
- Oversee field projects, including validation and integration, ensuring proper execution and necessary escalation.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for system failures and performance degradation, enhancing overall reliability.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with design, manufacturing, software, and quality assurance teams for seamless product development.
- Utilize diagnostic tools like Vector CANoe, Peak CAN, and Bus Master for data-driven troubleshooting and validation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 8-12 years of experience in testing, validation, and project management within the EV/battery industry.
- Preferably an expert in electronic/electrical/battery technology rather than a mechanical-heavy background.
- Strong expertise in battery systems, BMS, and data analytics.
- Hands-on experience in prototype testing, field integration, and failure diagnostics.
- Understanding of EV architecture, including chargers, VCU, and related peripherals.
- Familiarity with homologation and certification processes.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing teams and mentoring engineers.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure product reliability and compliance.
- Proficiency in battery testing tools and software like CANoe, Peak CAN, and Bus Master.
