Job Description:

LEAD AV TECHNICIAN

Our client is seeking skilled Lead AV Technicians to join their Audio-Visual team, focusing on designing, installing, and maintaining complex AV solutions. This role involves reviewing, understanding, analyzing, and implementing installation plans from the Design, Sales, and Project Management teams. Reporting to a Project Manager or Foreman, the Lead AV Technicians will mentor and supervise junior technicians, ensuring high-quality installations and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the installation and servicing of cabling infrastructure and audio/visual devices, including pre-wiring, installation, termination, testing, reporting, and labeling per specifications and drawings.
  • Install audio/visual equipment such as audio and video conferencing equipment, distributed audio, digital signage, sound reinforcement, control systems, and presentation systems.
  • Program and commission systems using Crestron Toolbox, Extron Toolbelt, and Tesira software to establish connections with devices.
  • Set device IDs and IP addresses, maintain and update spreadsheets for programmers.
  • Organize and maintain efficiency with onsite activities and goals, keeping the project team motivated.
  • Mentor, coach, and train other technicians.
  • Load program files and update firmware for various devices.
  • Build racks and implement strong cable management practices.
  • Read and interpret system diagrams and construction drawings.
  • Ensure safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Perform administrative duties, including project updates to Project Managers and completing and filing all project documentation.
  • Be “on-call” before or after regularly scheduled hours, and/or on days not regularly scheduled to work.
  • Build relationships with clients and prospects for future opportunities.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in installing and maintaining complex Audio-Visual systems in commercial environments.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to mentor and supervise junior technicians, ensuring high-quality work and client satisfaction.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work in various environments, from construction sites to finished corporate offices.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical role within the integrated security industry.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean abstract.
  • Experience working in the hospitality, healthcare, and/or post-secondary industries preferred.
  • Preferred certifications: CTS, CTS-I, Extron AV associate, Biamp Tesira Forte, Biamp AV Lab Crestron Professional Installation.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand, climb, walk, sit, push, pull, squat, crawl, and stoop.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, and type on keyboard; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Use of power tools required.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and work at heights over 1.8m (6 feet).

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, job sites, and travel to and from job site locations.
  • Typical office environment and occasional exposure to construction equipment.
  • Moderate noise level.
  • Confined space entry and high work may be required.
