Wenham Carter Group are searching for those to help build software to make scalable carbon removal happen.

Our client, a fast-growing climate tech company, seeks a Principal/Lead Software Engineer to lead the development of their SaaS platform powering one of the most scientifically credible carbon removal methods available.


This is an opportunity for distinguished software experts to lead a team to engineer a hub platform that directly impacts the planet’s future.


The Role

You will lead technical decisions and architectural direction as the digital infrastructure behind scalable carbon removal is built. This is a hands-on leadership role in a small, highly capable team/ This is will allow you to shape systems, mentor engineers, and help define best practices for software delivery in a mission-led startup.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and evolution of the platform’s architecture
  • Build scalable APIs and backend systems for a growing global user base
  • Work cross-functionally with science, data, ops, and product teams
  • Write production code and guide the team in engineering excellence
  • Champion DevOps, testing, and security best practices
  • Help grow the engineering culture and technical capability of the team


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Staff/Principal Engineer or Tech Lead in a full-stack environment
  • Expertise in backend development, cloud infrastructure (Azure or AWS), and scalable system design
  • Experience building SaaS platforms in startup or high-growth settings
  • Comfortable mentoring and guiding other engineers, without needing to manage people
  • A personal interest in working on solutions to climate change
  • Background in developer experience, platform architecture, or design systems
