The Opportunity:
Central to Urban's mission is fostering a truly collaborative environment that ensures ongoing relevance to a changing world. The Lead Salesforce and Enterprise Systems Developer (Step 5/ Technology track) is with the Digital Enterprise team, which is part of the Department of Technology & Data Science (TECH). The team is responsible for architecting solutions for, and supporting enterprise business systems including Salesforce, Workday, and JAMIS Prime; developing systems and data integrations among business systems and external systems; and designing and developing business intelligence data models and visualizations. TECH is a team of outstanding technology professionals who provide Urban with solutions that employ state of the art technologies as well as project/product management practices including lean, agile, and design thinking.
The successful candidate will be an experienced self-starter capable of collaborating with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to identify, design, build and maintain complex business processes in Salesforce, and drive end-user success through effective adoption strategies. Proficiency in agile development methodologies and experience managing multiple projects in fast-paced environments is essential. The Lead Salesforce and Enterprise Systems Developer will report directly to the Senior Director of Digital Enterprise.
What You'll Do:
Responsibilities include:
* Leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of Salesforce automations to fulfil intricate business processes.
* Developing and overseeing custom Salesforce applications utilizing the full suite of developer tools, including Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), APIs.
* Architecting the Salesforce and enterprise system data structure and designing integrations between the various systems and platforms.
* Providing advanced Salesforce support and guidance to all levels of the organization, particularly to senior leadership.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams and internal clients to identify improvement opportunities, design innovative solutions, and implement necessary changes.
* Guiding team members in developing analytics and data queries that support organizational objectives across Urban.
* Building and maintaining best practices for software development, enterprise architecture documentation, quality control and process efficiency within the digital enterprise team and partnering teams.
Who You Are:
We seek a candidate with extensive familiarity with the Salesforce platform and solid API development experience, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong passion for problem-solving. The ideal applicant has significant experience in requirements gathering, design and programming within Salesforce, demonstrating the ability to manage several concurrent projects both autonomously and collaboratively. A commitment to continuous learning and embracing new challenges, along with a willingness to innovate and explore new and adjacent technologies, is crucial.
The successful applicant has:
* A minimum of five years of experience, which may include a Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional and academic experience in database management, programming, or technology consulting is acceptable.
* Advanced proficiency with several programming languages, including Apex, LWC framework, APIs, SQL and data formats (JSON, XML).
* Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
* Proven track record of meeting deadlines and effectively prioritizing simultaneous requests.
* Dedication to delivering an exceptional user experience and fostering meaningful user adoption.
* Documented history of successful project leadership and completion, with the ability to articulate and understand complex work processes.
* Industry-level expertise and recommends changes to platform and methods to remain up-to-date or competitive.
The following are preferred but not requirements:
* 5+ years of experience in Salesforce administration and development (certification preferred).
* Experience with JIRA in an Agile environment.
* Proficiency with Lean and problem-solving tools such as A3, value stream mapping, etc.
* Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Jetic, camelK, or similar integration languages or platforms

The target salary range for this position is Min $112,850 - Max $188,500. Salary offered is commensurate with experience and considers internal comparisons. Salaries are just one component of Urban Institute's total compensation package. Urban is committed to supporting our staff's physical, emotional, and financial well-being through a robust benefits package for yourself, eligible dependents, and domestic partners. It includes generous paid time off, including nine federal holidays, medical (including prescription), dental and vision insurance, and transit benefits.
