The Role
As the Lead Power Systems Engineer, you will play a key role within the management team, contributing significantly to design expertise and project delivery outcomes. You will be responsible for providing high-level engineering design, testing, supervision, client liaison, and project management services across the mining, mineral processing, and utilities sectors.

About You
The ideal candidate will bring a strong client focus and the ability to identify business opportunities, secure project work, and successfully manage its execution and delivery.
You will have:
- Proven experience leading detailed engineering design projects and mentoring junior engineers.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- A minimum of 7 years in a consulting role in mining/materials handling
- Proficiency in system analysis, modelling, design calculations, and computer simulations.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and guide team members effectively.
- A commercial mindset, capable of setting and achieving project targets and budgets.
- Extensive background in project design within minerals processing, power generation, transmission/distribution, or utility sectors.
- Excellent communication and report writing abilities.
- A track record of mentoring and developing junior engineering staff.
Key Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, recognised by Engineers Australia.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in similar roles.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to team success.
- Power Simulation Assessments, including load flow, fault level, motor starting and harmonics.
- Experience with Regulatory submissions.
- Major electrical plant selection and specifications – Transformers, Switchgear, Cables, Motors.
- Earth grid design.
- HV and LV switchboard design.
- Power line design.
- Protection systems, device settings, coordination & fault studies.
- Testing, Commissioning, Troubleshooting experience
