Our client, a global leader in valve and energy solutions, is seeking a technically confident and commercially minded professional to lead their engineering services across Australia and support broader operations throughout the asia pacific region.
This role is ideal for a seasoned Lead Engineer ready to step into full engineering management.
You’ll manage a team delivering technical services across multiple industries, oversee P&L, and play a key part in both operational delivery and strategic growth.
About the Role
You’ll lead a multi-skilled engineering team supporting high-profile clients across oil and gas, heavy industry, and energy sectors. This role combines hands-on technical oversight with commercial accountability. You’ll be responsible for all engineering activity, including team leadership, project delivery, financial performance, and business development.
You’ll be working closely with colleagues across the APAC region with regular engagement across company offices, client premises, and project sites.
This is a strong opportunity for a capable and confident engineer looking to formalise their leadership and take responsibility for a team and P&L, while still staying close to the technical work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering services across multiple work scopes, sites, and client locations
- Manage P&L and contribute to broader regional planning and forecasting
- Guide and develop a team of technically capable but early-career engineers
- Provide hands-on engineering input where required, including technical authority review and direct project delivery
- Act as the primary technical and commercial interface for clients across a variety of industries
- Oversee resourcing, scheduling, and delivery across multiple locations
- Support tendering processes, including technical documentation and commercial review
- Lead discussions with clients regarding emissions reduction and technical solutions
- Maintain a strong focus on compliance, quality, and safety across all activity
- Promote a culture of accountability, flexibility, and continuous improvement
- Contribute to business development activities and identify opportunities for growth
What You’ll Bring
- MEng or BEng in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience with deep industry knowledge
- Extensive experience in the valve, oil and gas, or heavy engineering sectors
- Strong background in engineering management, technical leadership, and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to manage budgets, drive profitability, and contribute to commercial decisions
- High level of technical competency – capable of acting as a technical authority and providing engineering oversight
- Skilled in working across varied environments – office-based, client-side, and on-site
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing junior engineers
- Calm, methodical, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Previous involvement in tendering and securing new work, particularly in solutions-based offerings such as emissions reduction
- Comfortable working flexible hours to meet client or project demands
