Freeman Price is delighted to be working with a well estabished Automation Machinery Manufacturer in the search for a new lead mechanical engineer.

As Lead Mechanical Engineer, you are responsible for designing, analyzing, and improving mechanical systems, components, and processes.

You provide functional leadership within the mechanical field to employees across multiple projects. You will be working on projects with teams based in multiple locations. You delegate mechanical tasks to these employees and then check the delivered work. You spend about 60% to 70% of your working time on engineering tasks yourself.

Additionally, we expect you to be innovative and make a positive contribution to standards and developments in the mechanical field. We expect you to not only make proposals in the technical domain but also suggest ways to limit costs in areas such as production, service, maintenance, and energy consumption. Finally, it is important that, as a specialist in the mechanical field, you maintain a good relationship with hardware and software engineers.

What will you do?

• Create an estimate of the number of project hours needed based on technical specifications.
• Timely, fully, and qualitatively prepare drawing packages and assembly drawings based on technical specifications.
• Ensure the accuracy of the mechanical design in all phases of the project.
• Collaborate with other team members to achieve project goals. This includes providing feedback on designs and solving technical challenges.
• Document all aspects of the design and development process, including specifications, drawings, test results, and changes. This ensures traceability and helps resolve any issues in later phases of the project.
• Perform analyses to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems. This may include performing strength calculations, simulations, and stress analyses to ensure that designs meet the required standards.
• Ensure that all mechanical designs comply with the required quality standards, regulations, and specifications.
