Role Description

This is a contract Lead Instructional Design Content Designer role at Yellow Hat Consulting, located in Canberra with hybrid work from home options. The Lead Instructional Design Content Designer will be responsible for creating engaging and effective instructional materials, designing learning experiences, and collaborating with subject matter experts and stakeholders.


Skills and Experience: 


  • Proven experience and proficiency in e-learning development, specifically with Camtasia and Articulate 360 and proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS).  
  • Strong understanding of instructional design principles including knowledge of how to structure content, create learning objectives, and design assessments. 
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM). Knowledge of cognitive psychology is a plus.  
  • The ability to design visually appealing and interactive content that captures learners' attention and enhances their learning experience. 
  • Understanding the learner's perspective and creating content that is accessible, inclusive, and supportive of diverse learning needs. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex information clearly and effectively. This also includes the ability to collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders. 
  • A genuine interest in adult learning and a commitment to staying updated with the latest thinking and best practices in e-learning and instructional design. 
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. 
  • Being open to new ideas and technologies, and the ability to adapt content to different learning styles and environments. 
  • Ensuring accuracy and quality in all aspects of content creation, from instructional materials to multimedia elements. 
  • Knowledge of graphic design, video editing, and audio production tools. 
  • Experience in large scale IT transformation projects or environments is a plus. 
  • Familiarity with bio-security concepts and practices is a plus. 


Technical skills

Preferred Qualifications and Certifications: • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116). • Qualifications in instructional design, adult learning and e-learning authoring tools and development. • Knowledge of SCORM, xAPI, and other e-learning standards is a plus.
