Job Description

The Software Asset Management - Lead role supports the day-to-day activities associated with the organization’s IT assets, ensuring operational efficiencies and data completeness through the full lifecycle of IT assets and software being utilized across a hybrid environment (multi-cloud and on-prem), including:

• Coordinating and collaborating with partners across the enterprise, including: Business Application Owners, Service Catalogue Manager, Software Product Owners, and Procurement representatives.
• Understand impact of maintenance / assurance, support contracts and requirements.
• Handle lifecycle stages of software assets from initial request – purchasing, deployment, maintenance – through removal from service.
• Ensuring quality of software asset records within the Asset Management Repository, including Software Discovery Models, Software Product Models and Software Entitlements.
• Discover and establish a full inventory of software deployed.
• Identify and correlate hardware and devices of the deployed software.
• Identify number of licenses, licensing scheme / type, and utilization of each discovered software.
• Identify licensed applications, and identify vendor, count, cost per license, and current license holders. Categorize all license usage: assigned in-use, assigned unused, unassigned, expired.
• Performing reconciliation by comparing entitlements with discovered software installations to resolve effective license positions for each in-scope publisher.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in day-to-day operational activities for a Software Asset Management (SAM) in infrastructure environment
• Understanding of common enterprise database platforms (Oracle, MSSQL Server, etc)
• Familiar with infrastructure terminology (database, server, cloud, VM, network, telephony, etc.)
• Experience managing software assets throughout their full lifecycle
• Understanding of software licensing models, including for large vendors (IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, etc.)
• Experience with asset discovery tools and managing associated data; to analyze and identify potential gaps
• Experience with SAM related platforms, tools, and integrations – including ServiceNow SAM and Coupa
  
  

Preferred

• Understanding of common open source database platforms (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, etc)
• Undergraduate degree, or equivalent experience
• Application Portfolio Management, Software Asset Management and discovery tools experience (FlexeraOne, ServiceNow Discovery, SCCM, ServiceNow APM,
• Experience interpreting licensing terms and conditions
• Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills
• Good working knowledge of major operating systems and hardware platforms
